As of spring 2007, we are pleased to celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary of Mary Marzo's first CD, Goddess Relaxation & Meditations. This CD has reached several best seller lists and is still a strong seller reaching many people worldwide.

On this extraordinary CD, Mary offers two guided meditations and one deep relaxation, which have evolved over the years in her psychotherapy practice, Goddess Yoga classes and her Goddess spirituality work. The recording encourages us to invoke our own inner healer.

The first track is a 30-minute deep Relaxation, which encompasses the entire body. Mary’s voice immediately puts us at ease and helps us scan for areas in the body holding tension. She then guides us through letting go of the "tight spots" in a gentle, non-judgmental way, thereby releasing the tension until we are fully and deeply relaxed. The emphasis is self-empowerment and self-healing.

The second track is an 18-minute Grounding Meditation with Mother Earth. Here, Mary focuses on deepening our connection to our bodies and the Mother. Making a complete circle of healing by sending the energy to the earth in gratitude as a giveaway and receiving it back in our bodies to renew and regenerate. She then helps us find a personal symbol that we can keep, meditate with and use during the day for reconnecting and re-grounding when the need arises.

The third track is a 15-minute Inner Sanctuary Meditation. This is a very personal meditation, which helps us create a deep sacred healing place within. Mary guides us to our own private inner sanctuary – a sacred place to get answers to our questions, connect with our "Wise Woman" or simply rest and heal.

"A Trip to Nirvana"

Mary Marzo's mild and soothing voice is the first thing that will catch your attention in this outstanding CD, guaranteed to take you to a place called nirvana.

Marzo's eclectic background as a holistic psychotherapist and yoga instructor is apparent throughout - that is, if you ever make it to the third and final track. The sounds are so soothing, you'll probably fall asleep seconds after completing the first one. In that 30-minute deep relaxation session, Marzo starts listeners off with instructions in deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation. Her extraordinarily gentle voice immediately instills ease and calm, overcoming the first barrier to relaxation. Cognisant of North Americans' reluctance to simply let go, Marzo also gently reminds us that our environment is safe and protected; we can relax and focus inward on the self. What follows is a journey where we discover a sacred and welcoming light at the end of a tunnel. But the voyage has not ended; it has just begun.

We are led to realize that the source of power is within. In just thirty minutes, this wise woman uncannily provides access to our individual healing power and to a light energy source available to each one of us. Pent-up emotions and accumulated tension simply melt away.

In track two - an 18-minute guided imagery meditation - we connect with Mother Earth, drawing her grounding, nurturing energy up through our bodies. With this healing circuit established, we feel complete, regenerated, and alive.

Goddess Relaxation and Meditations CD

Guided meditations are popular products in the New Age market, so it can be a bit of a gamble as to whether what you buy is worth what you spend. All too often the mediations in this category are read badly or the imagery is silly. A delightful exception to this caveat is Mary Marzo's excellent meditation CD, Goddess Relaxation & Meditations. I love this CD and have listened to it several times since I got it. Each listening has been wonderful.

The first time I listened to this recording I was in an agitated frame of mind, and it was not a fair test of Marzo's abilities. Although I generally enjoy doing guided meditations, I was upset and a bit angry when I began. However, after listening for a few minutes, I calmed down and began to relax - and, believe me, if she can do that for me, she's fantastic! The half-hour meditation went by quickly, and I emerged into ordinary consciousness feeling refreshed and calm.

The grounding meditation was especially good. You can do this one alone, or after the Relaxation meditation. The imagery was lovely - fostering a deeper connection with the Earth as the Universal Mother. One chooses a symbol of Earth Mother energy to meditate on. This symbol then acts as a conduit of the healing Earth energy that one can call upon in the future.

The last meditation, "Inner Sanctuary," had a magical feeling, like a return to childhood, where new things were fascinating and everything was wondrous. This was my favorite of the three - and I have listened to it several times now.

Overall, this recording (sold both in CD and cassette formats) provides a delightful experience and is well worth owning. Marzo's voice is deep and rich, her cadences soothing, and her directions make it easy to relax and enter a deep state of healing relaxation. Marzo takes care to create a safe place in which to relax, protected. I will listen to these meditations frequently.
